I've been seeing several geese this week on my way in to work, I don't have a clue what the poor buggers are going to eat besides snow sandwiches.

I was thinking the same thing about the gophers too. What are these creatures finding?

Never heard of a goose starving.
I think they'll be fine.

I saw gophers the week before last as well. That sure would be easy picking, I shot some years ago on the snow with my .223, boy what a mess that made!:fighting0021:

Don't know about the geese, but I thought I saw everything when I saw ducks dropping vertically into cattle corals to dine on cattle feed. That was until this winter when I saw Mallards landing on top of rail cars to feed on the grain spread around the hatches.

There is a substantial population that over winter here in Calgary, feeding on fields east of town. I've seen them head west as well. So I'm sure any geese north of here may have dined here before heading up. Elbow river opening up in a few spots and the mergansers are eager to move into any new water.

Last weekend seem to be the big crow weekend as they moved steady through west Calgary.
