Hi i found this site from huntingbc.ca , i figure cranbrook is soo close to alberta.. this would be the place to ask..
I am meeting some family this summer around cranbrook , as its kind of in the middle for everyone..

I am just curious if anyone knows any good spots for family camping near there... sadly it will probably need to have showers etc.... :sign0161:

but anyway.. any good experiences or any advice would be great.. thanks..

Fort Steele is nice.

There is a full service camp ground behind the esso.

A 2nd vote for Fort Steele. It has everything, is wide open and sunny, and well suited for family get-togethers.
While it's not on a lake, there's lots of 'family' fun nearby. The heritage park across the road is good family fun (even dogs permitted). Have the old 'sourdough' teach your kids how to pan for gold there, and then take them up nearby Wild Horse Creek to pan at site of historic Fisherville - the terminus to the famous Dewdney Trail. Panning there is open to the public - no worries about interfering with someones 'claim'.
The fish hatchery is also nearby. Bring butterfly nets so the kids can catch grasshoppers in the parking lot, and feed them to the huge trout in the pond at the front doors. Take the hatchery tour and hold a baby dinosaur (sturgeon).
All amenities are closeby at Cranbrook - inlcuding a good selection of hotels for those that don't want to rough it camping. Even a native casino - for those so inclined.
And - be sure to bring your flyrod...

For gov't campsites we have stayed at Moyie Lake ( 15 mins west of Cranbrook ) which has a nice beach and reservable sites and Kikomun Creek ( 30 mins east of Cranbrook, again nice beach on a small lake with no boats) and reservable sites but they go quick for the weekends. Check out discovercamping.com for more info...sk
