2 weeks ago I was lucky enough to visit the Battle at Shiloh as well as Vicksburg, Mississippi. Have the series being PVR'd. Saw the first episode and it was great.

It's an old series, I remember watching it over 10yrs ago.
IMO it's one of the best things to ever come out of PBS.

I'm thinking it was made in 1990...but...still great!!

As to ...quote one soldier..

"Quote: The ball entered just below my left eye and excited just below my right ear but yet I survived QUOTE"

man o man that must have been brutal but not as brutal as the medics they had back then..:scared0018:

Caught part of one episode the other night. I find it interesting, too.

One particularly interesting statistic opened my eyes as to the magnitude of the war. I had not previously realized: The death and casualty toll exceeded the combined death and casualty toll of both the first and second world wars.

And, a lot of "what if's" there as well.

That was just for the Americans in WW1 and WW2. If you added up all the countries it isn't even close.

The Ken Burns series is great... I have been watching here and there.
