i got my hands on some realy stinky chicken ! i was at basspro the other day and a worker there told me that rotten chicken wont work !!! bears will avoid it !!!! guys is there any truth to this ????

First, the fishing section isn't the spot for bear hunting questions. Second, bears eat everything. Yes they will eat chicken.

bears are scavangers and will eat most anything if its an easy meal. especialy in spring and fall.

Most guys put something smelly and rotten out just to get the bears(and birds, Ravens/Crows.magpies) coming in, bears will often come see what it is either by smell or the sound of all the scavenging birds. This great accept they dont actually like rotten food, once they start coming around you have to switch it up or they will move on, fresh food like, oats with sugar and or Fast food used cooking oil, which they get on their paws and drag the smell all over the bush for you making your bait even more effective.

Smell is good early but in my experience it needs to be "freshened up" once the bears start visiting to keep them coming back or they will just hit the clover and dandylions once it starts to green up!

Lol if you head to the coast, that rotten chicken would be good use. I hear that rotten chicken is on of the best crab baits to use.
