Ice conditions are very poor up in the Lac La Biche area... Do to the amount of snow we have received this past 2 weeks it has made for very bad ice conditions and I doubt they will be very good all year unless the snow stops.. We had only about 4 - 6 inches of ice on some of the smaller lakes (Blacket, Beaver,) and then came the heavy snow.. It has insulated and is sinking the ice.. We already have over flow.. Extreme caution should be used if anyone is venturing out.. I hope it improves by Christmas so a guy can get in a few days over the holidays,, but I know it will be with quad or snow machine only... Extreme caution should be used when going out on the ice for quite a while yet..

The ice on lake Isle was 12-14" on sunday...drove out in my car...most lakes around edmonton should be good to go....just watch where there may be current around islands inlets outlets etc...

Coal Lake (by Millet) has about 12". But heard some stories that a quad just about went through a spot where a spring must have been.

A truck was parked on in the middle by the north boat launch.

Hey Ace, were you there yesterday? If so, I was the guy in the 2 man tent you spoke to as you were leaving . It wasn't till after you were gone that I started wondering if that was you.

LOL!! Hey FF..yeah I was thinking the same thing. I thought I recognized the balding top of your head. I should have picked it up as soon as you mentioned your Vexilar..lol..

But for some reason I was looking for a little 4x4 and forgot you had the HHR, so I wasn't sure.

That was my first mini-trip out since our baby 2 weeks ago. My wife seems pretty comfortable with me getting out a few times. I think I've even convinced her to let me buy the 4-man ice cube for this year's adventures. When I get my power auger for Christmas I should be set.

Hmm...or maybe not set yet...now I need to start trying to convince her I need an underwater camera..lol..

See ya

I was out north East of Lac la Biche and was very surprised how little ice there was. There was 5"-6" on the lake. It was solid ice, but not much at all. The trail into the lake had enough snow to make me push with my front bumper. About one and a half feet of snow on the trail in and only 4-5" on the lake. The fishing was okay and we ended up with 9 pike, but nothing big. The trip ended poorly though. My Tranny went in my truck. Those are some expensive fish. Approximatly $275 per fish.
