nsr hatch?

i was fly fishing at legends on the nsr and saw small black beetles on top oif the water everywhere. Saw the odd goldeye jump but they wouldnt take my black caddis. Do u think they were taking these beetles or do you know what other kind of flys they are jumping for? what would you recommend to use as a dry fly right now?
