Anybody ever use these things?

I understand that the *best* way to attach a crank to your line is to tie it directly on with a Rapala knot, but if you're swapping cranks a lot during a day, that makes for a lot of clipping and tying.

Usually I just rock a snap swivel, but I'm wondering if these would be a better option - I guess the idea is they're lighter so they don't interfere with the action of the crank - especially the suspending ones that always roll over/go nose down with a steel leader attached.

I dunno though...they look a little flimsy to me?

they give your lure a bit more freedom to do its own thing. more wiggle/wobble ect i use them on flatfish and big crankers in the fall.

Yes they are better for cranks. They also work really well in the NSR for Sturgeon rigs. They are alot stronger than regular snap swivels.

I have never used them but they look like a good idea.

yes, these snaps are a must! if you do not use rapala knot, you are limiting the movement your cranks as supposed to have. If you dont know how to tie a rapala knot then use one of these snaps.

Really? They look like they'd be weaker than your average snap

Well, when I say your average snap, I usually use these

It actually depends which ones you get. I use the bigger ones with the thicker wire.

I use them quite a bit but if you use the other ones with the swivels they seem to keep your line from twisting up.

The Lindy snaps are round on the end and that's why they work so well for crankbaits. Can't say I've ever had one open up on me. They're stronger than they look.

yah ive never had one fail me, even 25lb koot fish havent opened them when pulling thunder sticks.

ive found that removing the split ring on the crankbait helps alot if your going to use a snap. If the split ring finds its way to the gap it doesnt run as well. If i dont use a snap i tie direct to the split ring gap

they are decent, but still limit movement. rapala know is still the better option

Just a reminder guys:

If your Rapala lure has a split ring on it (that you're tying to) you are NOT supposed to use the Rapala knot. You are supposed to use a Double Loop knot.

Only if you are tying directly to the fixed nose ring, are you supposed to use the Rapala knot.

great illustrations photo, those knots often mean the difference between many hits and not.
