I am looking a lakefront property on Dore Lake and I was wondering if anyone has ever fished there or has any good or bad information on the lake for me. Thanks

Good\great pike fishing and we have hooked some lunker walleye don't really target walleye specifically so I cannot rate the total quality. Been going there 15 years and have owned a Cabin out there for 5.

Supposed to be perch and whitefish there to but I have never target those fish at all before.

All in all I love the place, 4 weeks till we open up the place, hopefully the ice is off by then.

Dom you own a titled Lot or deeded lot? The lot I was looking at is titled. Is this lake on anm indian reserve and is that possibly why the lot is titled? Thanks

The cabin I have has odd ownership and hard to explain, the other developments are titled as far as I know, plain old crown land around us. i'll send a note to the father in-law and ask for sure.

Thanks a lot. I live in Edmonton so it is a huge drive to go up there but if the price is right and the fishing is good according to you I might just go ahead and get a lot up there.

Yes it's used to be an awesome fishery, not 100% sure how it is today. But still hear good things. Good for pike and walleye.

There was a dry spell , around 7 years ago then some rule changes combined with an influx of fish from a upstream lake after a real wet spring. Things turned around nicely. SRD permenatly closed the main spawning area and that seems to have had a positive effect. I have not checked the current regs but rummor was they are dropping the limit from 5 to 3.

As word is getting out itis getting busy, July long last year it was smoking crowded there were 9 trailers at the boat launch :).

Oh and the drive is easy, it's 9 hours from Calgary and if we add a day to a long weekend and it's a good time. The highways after lloyd are pretty quiet.

The last 70km of gravel can get hairy especially if they have been "fixing the road" Seems they have an odd idea of what in sask what fixing means.

You might need a bigger boat, I got my dads old 15.5' tri-hull and it is too small when the waves pick up.

A deep 18'er is a decent size but you'll still get blown off the lake sometimes.

I have fished Dore lake one weekend a year, usually in later part of June, I have always enjoyed it. Good fishing, it is common to catch 10lb pickrel on a #4 Len Thompson. There is perch in the lake, just never targeted them, have caught lots of small ones with the kids off the dock at the lodge.Good fishing in the bay closest to the old mink farm there. If you would like look up Dore lake lodge, and talk to Dwane or Val, there great people, and can tell you alot about the lake and the area.

What is there for launches? Is there a decent launch in the town? I launched at Dore Lake Lodge last year and there isn't much of a real launch. You just continue to back your vehicle into the lake until the boat is far enough in.

Stayed at Dore Lake Lodge two years in a row. LOVED IT!

Dwayne and Val are great people.

Thought you might be interested to note that the regulations have changed at Dore Lake for this season. The walleye limit is now 1, which cannot be less than 55cm total length. Northerns at 5, perch at 25. (unchanged).

Plus the whole area around Bazill Bay is CLOSED.

The new regulations also bring fixed dates for opening day, the Central region being May15 to March 31.

The Southern region opens tomorrow (5th) and I plan on a day trip to Constance for splake and rainbows from the Guppyshark, a 12' Harbercraft.
the Northern region does not open until the 25th but doesn't close until April 15.

A couple of other changes for this year:
a) the non-closure of stocked trout lakes. Typically everything closed for 5 weeks in April so it has been hard to get a "fix" in the spring.
And b) the general walleye limit has been reduced to 4, down one from past seasons. Slot sizes and other restrictions still apply on some waters.

An interesting fact is the total number of lakes in Saskatchewan is 90,000, of which, it is estimated, 50,000 contain game fish. Plenty of room for every one. Not to mention that more than half the people in this province that require a license to fish have one. That's a quarter million permits! Seniors, children under 16 and Natives do not require a license for subsistance fishing.
Resident angler: $29.44 incl taxes
Canadian resident: $58.87 annual, $29.44 for 3 days
Non resident/non Canadian: $78.51 annual, $39.25 for 3 days

Also notable is the C&R regulations that are starting to become more of the norm than in the past. Check the guide for those lists and remember that only barbless hooks are allowed in C&R lakes. I am barbless all the way so I never worry.

What's the change in that rule that looks like last year as far as I can remember?

Lets see here. 50,000 lakes divided by 365 days in a year = 137 years to fish a different lake each day.

Just have to be envious.
