pike flys

wondering what some good pike flys are, just tied my first fly last night and now i wanna tie up some flys to target pike with,

might go pick up one of them mouse flys , what othe flys that would be difficult to tie would be good to buy?

Years ago a friendof mine & I tied some streamers that they went nuts over.
We first tied two hooks in tandem, one facing down & one up. We weighted this
a bit. Then we used silver chennele on the shaft. Put a red head on it somehow
and a long tail of white maribo or polor bear hair. In the water it kind of looked
like fish guts. Better use a heavy weight leader and bring quite a few of these along.
In those days we could fish in Sylvan Lake right away in the spring so we were
out these with waders when one could cast to the edge of the ice and strip it in.
Well, talk about fun and action. A 12 pound Jack on the end of a 9ft Fenwick rod
was something to behold. Some of them even came out of the water tail-walking!
Have fun, but where to do this these days with all the regs?

Go big. but that also means more expensive.
buy some cone heads/ some large hooks/ some marabuu and buck tail and your set. for the most part if its ugly you most likly did it right for pike,

If you tie a weedless mouse, you will nearly have a heart attack. Ducklings work too. The boys are right, they don't have to be pretty, the pike are spawning in the shallow water and will hit with authority. The weedier the better.

Big mouse, weedless. You can tie this, spin the elk hair head and trim with scissors, extra hook too.

Are you sure that this is a fly rod species? They can be big, and hard to release.

Great pictures. Did you tie those yourself, and do they have names?

What terminal tackle? Did you have help landing those fish? The person taking the pictures?
