Was at Manitoba over Easter weekend an did some sucker fishing was pretty sweet action on the whitemud river as it was flowing over the road

you just put your dipnet in the river and in 5 seconds you have that many and there are tons of them in the rivers.

how big were they 300, and what do you guys do with them? i know there's a few guys on here salivating. those are fine looking suckers.

You can catch them up to five pounds and we grind them up and make fish burgers. You just add peppers, onnions, egg and crackers and they are good eatin and the nice thing there is no limit on catching them so you can take as many as you want.

yeah it gets pretty tiring after about 5 minutes even the commercial fisherman go there with bale elevators and they catch thousands of them

OMG i miss Manitoba !!
nothing like netting or bowfishing suckers so you can throw them in the freezer until your ready to "steak" them up for cutbait for those big Channel Catfish!!!!!

ya it is quite the expirence we have done it for a while now and we went to a few differnt spots this year because the water was rushing over the start of the whitemud dam so we had to go further down the river along ways

They run up the river on our farm. Back in the day gido and baba used to make smoked fish balls and patties. Also used to pickel and can some. Been years since we ate them. They would sneak in the odd fillet in with the jack and pickeral:sick:, never liked them like that. Great for bear bait.
