Bait vs Powerbait

So I'm looking at trying the NSR here in the next couple of days near Hermitage. From what I've read, it seems you pretty much need bait. I want to try to stear clear of the whole pickeral rig thing so I'm leaning more towards a jig tipped with something (minnow, worm whatever).

On the other hand I know that you can buy the Powerbait grubs/worms/leeches etc. I have precisely no experience using this stuff and I'm just wondering how others have done using it.

I don't play so much with bait,or even power bait,gulp ect.. but what i do use are the simple black over white 3-4 inch minnows in the gulp tubs of juice.Ive seen eyes swim past the real thing and hit the gulp minnow many times so im sold on those.The worms for trout are ok leeches save your money.

All I use on the NSR is pickerel rigs or sturgeon rigs. Tipped with minnows or worms. Have caught tons of fish that way. 7 in 45 mins the other night.
