Was thinking of going to Ghost Lake this week-end, Does anyone know if it is still frozen or thawed?

drove by a week ago and there was ice on most of the east end. open water down by the west island.

While your up there you might want to try Lawrence, Island, Baptiste as well.

If your looking at Ghost Lake west of Calgary east end still covered in rotten ice and up Ghost side to might open later next week if weather prevails

Has Anyone been by Ghost today? Is it soup yet?
I have to work all weekend but I would love to get my boat in the water some evening this weekend. Ghost is the closest water to Airdrie. Seems like everywhere else is a two hour drive.

boats have been running the whole lake the last couple days. she's good to go.

Is the Ghost a good place to go with a boat, and what do you fish for mostly Mudslide?

Ghost Lake is a reservoir and can be a tough lake to pattern and fish, with the significant fluctuations in the water level. It's close and my truck is a gas pig, so I keep going there with moderate success. I'm slowly learning it's secrets though and expect this to be a much better year for me. Lots of fish. Ghost has Lakers, Browns, Bows, Whites and Burbot. They built a new resort on the East end so the boating and fishing pressure is going to increase dramatically this summer. It's saving grace may be that the water is too cold for most people to swim in.

Thx for the reply. I've only fished there once, scanned schools of fish down deep, 20 feet or so, couldn't get a bite. I figured there has to be secrets to it and i'm not a good enuff fisher to figure out. :p

Did you Salt-water fish out at Port Renfrew? If so what did you catch?

Ya, I Fish for Salmon fairly close to shore. Some nice Springs and Cohos. I have a 17 1/2 Crestliner with an open bow so I don't go too far offshore.

I'd love to tag along sometime, tyvm, even if only an observer with a camera! My lake experience has mostly been trolling for pike and walleye, and those tactics don't fare so well with the fish in Ghost Lake.

I like trolling too. I have a set of electric downriggers, but the trout will probably be up high right now. Time to break out the planner boards and jointed, floating Raps.
