We are looking at putting an on board battery charger in the boat. We have looked at a few, put really don't know the best way to go.
We have a 24 volt system.

What are your recommendations and why?

Also, how much pressure should you allow on your transom saver when you lower the motor on to it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a minnkota capable of independently charging 3 batteries plus the main, bought it at cabalas in Idaho. I researched first, this seemed the logical way to go. It as been perfect so far.

Go 3 bank. It'll charge your starting battery and each of the trolling batteries as a 12v. Mine is also from Cabelas. Still going after 6 years.

Go with the 3 bank Minn-Kota, I use the 5 amp but if you want to charge faster go with the 10 amp per leg.

I just installed a promariner XPS 2 bank from Bass Pro in my boat this weekend. I plugged it in and it ran for 2 minutes and then went dead, no power at all. So I am looking at warranty hopefully. First one I have ever tried so not a good first experience.:angry3:

Go with a 3 bank unit, 10 Amps per bank minimum. I think you need that extra amperage to fully charge drained batteries, and it'll charge much faster when you need it to. 5 amps might not be enough to get a full charge in your batteries overnight, 10 amps will do it 95% of the time.

I don't think brand is all that critical, they're all good.

I have a 3 bank charger from CT . It works great. Just plug your boat in, after a good day of fishing, and your good to go the next day.

thanks for all the info on battery chargers. We have purchased one that will suit our needs.

Now for the second question---how much pressure do you put on your transom saver?
