I don't know if this is right but if its the record the closest I could come up with is:

Rainbow Trout – 20.250 lbs – 1980 - Ron Solomon – Maligne Lake

The head is too small for one of the old crawling valley monsters.

If it was Caught in 1985 it is R J Rorke (Boomer)and is a Lake Rainbow from Edith Lake ; Jasper National Park and weight is 19 lbs 2 oz and it is the 1985 AFGA winner and the 1985 Master Angler winner..

If it is 1980 its Ron Solomon(California)Rainbow from Maligne Lake ; and is the Alberta Record at 20 lbs 4 oz.. he has a afro type hair do and i have a picture of him with fish.. Lorne Currie (Currie Guiding Jasper) owns it and it is on display at Fairmont Lodge Jasper or JPL Jasper Park Lodge

I don,t have my Books right now they are lent out.. but i saw pictures of both. and talk to Boomer lots before he moved..
The next year 1986 Randy Hirst got a 18 lb 12 oz from Patricia lake ; Jasper

Then Crawling Lake turn on 1987 1988:)

there is no way that fish went 20 pounds...I have caught a good number of 20 pound rainbows and I would bet that think at 14 to 15 TOPS...That is why I could care less about Provincial Records - they are mostly bogus to begin with. Saugeye as sauger records, splake for brook trout records, blah blah I could go on and on...I just laugh every time a new record gets broken here...the last one was a pike 41 pounds or something and if that fish was over 20 I would have been surprised...

Not the Maline lake fish.I have seen the mount and its way sleeker looks almost like a Steelhead.

I saw the mount in 1981 in the old Fishing Hole store on the west end of down town Calgary
