Checked out a new to me spot, had a good time. Been a lot of years since I drowned worms in the Bow. First I caught my first mooneye of the season,http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy156/rollinghillbilly/DSCF2282.jpg

then hooked into what I thought was my first sturgeon, what a bull of a fish, turned out to be a 5 1/2 pound sucker. No wonder some people think we have carp, other than the mouth it sure looked like one, and fought like one. I want to catch the fish that took a bite out of its tail too!

I caught 3 different kinds of suckers in 3 straight casts, gotta love the river. no Sturgeon, but I had fun anyways, and the rain went all around me, probably because I actually remembered my raingear for once.

Id never seen one before last year, but maybe the goldeye I had been catching elsewhere were mooneye too, I didnt know the difference, didnt fish for them much. not really a lot different thats obvious except the eyes. fight the same, and probably taste just as bad :sHa_sarcasticlol:

fortu-nately I dont live near the upper reaches anymore :sHa_shakeshout: thats the reason I havent caught them for years, since they brought in the bait ban

Ohhh, you live and learn! I thought the SSR started at Bassano! :)

Still learning my Albertan geography

What section of The Book does that part of the Bow fall into? The main Bow part ends at Bassano

Bow ends about 20 miles from my place, same place the Oldman ends. At the forks, kinda cool to stand where they meet and fish 3 rivers at once!;took this last year, Bow on the left, Oldman on the right, and the South Saskatchewan behind me, feet in 3 rivers at once, now who has the biggest feet!!!!

Can't believe u never got rained on. Nice catch on the mooneye Wayne, they're on my bucket list.
There are some Monsta suckas in there, I've caught and seen some biguns this year, had to of been over 10#s for sure - same species as the big one you caught...they seem to be most common of all those species around t/here.
Cheers!:)

Wayen we fished there Sun. morning with the same results. Mooneyes and suckers. That peice of water has produced many big fish over the past years.Somedays its no stop walleye action. Have you been to that same kind of water east of Rolling Hills.

as much as i appreciate the Bow up here.....the Bow becomes a real fishery for Big Boys down where WC lives.....i feel the same way about the upper Oldman compared to the lower Oldman.
just my opinion but the upper Bow bores me
