Only got to fish for a half hour or so this morning, only got 2 bites, and this is the only one I brought in (and released), so not too bad! It was weighed on an accurate scale, but not saying how much.... I know how much fun it is for you all to make your guesses! It wasn't very long, but VERY thick, probably 4-5" across the back, could just barely get my fingertips onto its sides.

Shhh! Secret spot! Haha, Not.
I have a boat but haven't even taken it the last few trips, just go shorefishing there because there are LOTS of 10-20 pounders lurking in there .

IMHO, the pike in coal are best under the ice, or early sping before the water warms and the weeds come up. Lots of little ones to catch with the odd good size. Most people catch very few keepers and when they do they are spawners (larger fish). Again IMHO I fish them for fun and pics and let them go. I wouldn't go to coal expecting to fill the freezer or feed a family.

I spent all day driving around trying different spots to fish and nothing, could someone point me in the right direction? I cannot find a good shore to fish off for the life of me.

Seb, I see you are from COLD LAKE, far eastern central part of Alberta.......the discussion here is on COAL LAKE. This place is 35 mins South of Edmonton.......which lake are you referrring to?

That's a beauty. There have been quite a few nice ones that came out of Coal this year already. I'm suprised the mosquitoes didn't carry you off though.. I was there yesterday evening and man they were awful. I have never seen them as bad as they were...

Congrats on the lunker!

Oh my bad, I thought it said Cold Lake. I tried fishing marie lake and some other small lakes around here, they are too shallow and weeded to fish from shore though. Rented a canoe for next weekend though so hopefully itll be a better go.

Cheers.
