Headed to Clear Lake today for a day of Pike fishing(my first time). Had no problem finding fish, since I have a fish finder, but could not get them to bite. Caught 3 Pike in almost 7 hrs.. Tried everything from assorted Rapalas to home made jigs to powerbait. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

look for aggresive fish to bite...the key to that is to find where the water in the lakes get warmest like black sands acjacent to weeds. use monderatly fast baits now.vibration then color then rattles.

fire tiger rattlin raps work wonders on pike. Any lake, any time.

doesnt look much like any pike Ive ever caught :)
caught a bunch this weekend on red and whites and some on yellow and reds, spoons that is, but retrieved slow over weedbeds. same lake depth as Clear, 10 feet and under. all mine were in 2 to 5 feet of water.

ya they want a very slow retrieve right now. Was out on Sat and caught a lot in 12-15 feet of water just off of the shoals but all were on flies and slow retrieve. My buddy caught his on jigs but again very slow retrieve.

Try casting a 00 len thompson 5 a diamonds right into weed beds, if nothing else you will pick up some hammer handles.

Wildeye live perch swimbaits, you can get a pack of 3 baits for $6, and they work great! Good luck!

Try a mepps cyclops fire tiger spoon 5'' and greatly vary the speed of the spoon. I have had many hits when I paused the spoon.
