Ive been here for 8 years and had to pry the location of the Flemish Cap out of an old timer. Would love to pass on its location but have been sworn to never let it out. All I know is that the Flemish Cap has put many fish in my boat when Garnet and the island havent been able too. Have no idea why just know that the Flemish Cap is amazing bite on or not, the Cap ALWAYS produces fish and biggens at that.:bad_boys_20:

sorry, not an AIRMANs thing, hit the Martineau today, slow going, headed over to the Cap and had 3 10lbers in my boat in 20 minutes, all C/R. Big lake, all kinds of places on the water, lots of underground structure. I guess you dont know the guys I know and especially the 68 year old gentleman that has been fishing the lake for 55 years, everyone I know personally knows of the Flemish Cap, you can keep trolling by Garnet with the rest of the tourists, we will keep the Cap to ourselves.7 lakers in 2.5 hours, not a bad day, all C/R, Ill eat the walleye from Marie and let the Cold Lake greasers live to see another day.:bad_boys_20:

Sounds like a poachers hot spot. I did see quite few guys cleaning fish in there boats that must be the spot.Do you carry a cleaning board in your boat?

I "NEVER" keep fish from Cold Lake and if you are saying Im a poacher, you had best step forward and say it to my face.I have fished this lake for 8 years and MANY know who I am and the values I have would say Im probably one of the most PRO catch and release anglers there is.I have taken people out fishing on Cold lake from all over North America and some of the pilots from Flag in the US still call me prior to coming up here. Just because you cant find a place like the Flemish Cap on your own or have never heard of it doesnt mean it doesnt or cant exist. See who PMs me and the numbers of people on this board about info on Cold Lake and who I have personally handed over GPS points too. Just because I wont let out a 55 year old secret, Im a poacher?? Anytime you would like to talk to me personally, Im always at the launch

Which launch?is it close to your narnia? or phlemish crap? Which charter boat do you run? Pro means making a living by making money while fishing. You must be no1 guide.

shouldnt you be in school now,bus should be close to your house isnt it? and yes, I do make $$ fishing, have since to early 90s, and by the way, when the word pro is used as I did in a sentence, it means like pro choice, meaning I strongly agree and practice it. Just gave your age and maturity level by refering to Cold Lake as Narnia, only my kids knew what Narnia was, had to ask them, time to go catch your bus for school, Ill be fishing around 9 while your making lunch pails for credits at school, enjoy your day, be careful with the pop rivet gun, its been known to bite back:bad_boys_20: Im not going to waste my time with you any longer, this conversation is abusing what this forum is all about..Sorry to all that have to or has read this crap.

Too Funny one of the best posts in a while.

I am all for free speach but I can tell you had better be able to say it to someones face if your going to accuse them of the likes of Poaching. You response was more diplomatic tham mine would have been.

if you head straight north from Garnets point along the north shore of the lake to the east of the martineau you will find the lakers, just look for the structure, there is a bay by the cold river and that is where you will catch the walley all year, the lakers are in there now as well but if you want big hit the 100-150 feet of water and fish between 40 and 65 feet of water. Dont let anyone send you into long bay for walley they are not there. French bay will have lakers this time of year but the guys who really know the lake fish the sask side of it. I have been fishing this lake for year and still cant figure out why guys think they own the lake and keep secrets. Trust me all you will never fish this lake out.

I had to learn this lake by trial and error ! it can be done , look where lots of boats are, use your depth finder to understand why the boats are there, then start to wander and look for similar structure ! The lake can be amazing ! Enjoy the adventure and the challenge ! I think i enjoy the lake more now that i had to do it the hard way, because on slow days, or really good ones, i'm not afraid to wander off and try new things and places! I found an area i call the trench, amazing little place, never seen anyone fish it, but it has saved a day a few times!

I don't personally know tyee33, but he has always been open and honest about what is going on at the lake! Keep the bs out please !

There is alot of concern about the future of this lake, so i respect his descision to keep a few spots to himself, there are lots of well known spots out there that produce just fine. use a downrigger, 50 ft ussually has been good to me, then try to stay on top of the baitfish, trust me when the screen lights up you will know what i'm talking aboout. I've always had good luck with a silver williams, or the silver and blue. If you want try the herring and anchivie style , but spoons work great !

Too funny........many a boat has ventured to the CAP and ne'er to return!!
Must a been named by some salty ole easterner..LOL. I've fished this lake 30some odd years and never heard of it either(the name that is). But have probably fished it a tousand times.
Best tip to catch pike and walleye...is to leave the trout alone for a while and go looking! Once you get on to the great pike fishing this lake has to offer, you will fish trout a whole lot less. At least I do. I remember years when you never caught an undersizer.Undersized was 12lbs.Will the lake be fished out....no, but will ever see sizes like the good old days.....probably not. Local biologists are now starting to realize this.

Hey laker I just started fishing cold lake 3 years ago and by far the most fun I've had fishing. Pounding lakers all day everyday in the 10-18lb range and a few high 20's just beautiful fish. What is the biggest laker you have caught or herd out of the lake? I herd something like close to 70lbs but not sure. Also I'm pure C&R guy but would a slot limit help this lake out in your opinion? Heres a couple pics from last year. Cant wait to get out this year again :sHa_shakeshout:

I've noticed the word has gotten out......our lake is on the map now!!!
Great to see people enjoying the quality fishing here. Lake trout are super easy to catch and find, once you find em you got em! The fishing pressure has increased 10 fold in the last 5-6 years,in my opinion. But the decrease in commercial fishing has kept the angling good with large numbers of lake trout still out there. I would not be surprised to see either a tag system or winter no limit on the trout in the very near futur. I can see from your pics that you have caughten on to finding the trout. Nice fish!!! They are a hoot to catch and release. But for the me the pike fishing is second to none. There is someting to be said about big pike, cold water and light tackle. In the winter the burbot have my vote for top prize. Great eating and don't stink like trout!
As, far as size goes 30lbers common and seen bigger in nets.
Good luck out here, but don't tell anyone!!!

The fishing is amazing right now the Martineau is producing walley and Jack but the cold river is probably your best bet for putting walley and Jack in the live well. They are still in shallow about 8-10 feet. If you have a minkota trolling motor use it troll slow with a lindy rig or a pickeral rig and a leach, I am confident that you will bring some in.
