I could be very wrong about this but I think with all the snow we had this winter and the late spring those creeks and streams would be awful high and fast right now.

Never occured to me earlier.

Well the guys in the thread on the Ram rivers are saying they're at 6 inches or less visibility...

the road is muddy when you hit the gravel. had the truck bottom out a few times were it is soft. the rivers and creeks are all mud with visibility around 6 inches.

Any fishing done in southern alberta this year in the month of june will be done on lakes, rivers are high and muddy, and there is more rain in the forcast so head to a lake.

Pretty sure these pictures are from last year, there is no hope that they are that clear.

Trunk Road from the hamlet of Waiparous to the Waiparous lookout point is a little loose and has some larger chucks of rocks on the road. From Waiprous look out point to Mountain Air Logde it has yet to be graded (last weekend) so is compact bit has some pot hole and washboarding but not that bad all things considered.

As for the water, the Panther river which is a tributary of the Red Deer has cleared up signifiacantly over the last few weeks but as soon as it gets hot the snow melt will make it dirty again. From the road the Burnt Timber Creek looked good as well as the Ghost Creek closer to Waiparous. The Upper Red Deer is surpirsingly clear as well (by clear I mean not looking like chocolate milk) but will also change with the heat. Hope this helps.

Sweet pics Shawn! I don't think there is any better place and more scenic place to explore than the western Alberta or BC back country. I even like exploring the backcountry of BC and western Alberta much better than going to Florida. I feel very lucky and grateful to live in Canada which I beleive is one of the most scenic countries on the plantet. To the heck with foreign vacationing!..lol.

what's the name of that lake in the waiparous creek area. I have been there a couple of times as a kid, so my memory is vauge. All i remember is riding in there on our dirt bikes and then walking a couple of hundred feet to the lake.
Anyone know what lake I'm talking about?????:thinking-006:

Not a good idea to be heading out to the trunk road this weekend! There is heavy rainfall warnings, flood warnings issued from Noedegg to Red Deer.

Waste of time trying to fish any creek or river flowing hard and fast, plus more run off will be coming with it.

The entire area is saturated in water, rivers and creeks are all really high. Not good for fishing but great for white water rafting! www.mukwah.com. Its a rafting company I guide for on the weekends.

I wholeheartedly agree,,, I get so miffed when people ask why I don't go to Mexico or Hawaii or Vegas,,, why? I've lived in two places on the coast where people would come year round to vacation, but still people would ask why I don't travel, it makes no sense to if you are already there/here. I'd rather spend a hefty chunk on my "neighbors" fishing business than a charter in Hawaii owned by a hedge fund in Conneticutt.

Canada is awesome and then some and then some more.
