nanofil availible end of this month im exited to try it will replace braided line on my river rod if it performs as well as they say

Not a Mono. Not a Braid NanoFil is made out of gel-spun polyethylene, much like a superline

Benefits of NanoFil

Our longest casting line! Anglers will experience exceptional casting distance and accuracy allowing them to cover more water and Catch More Fish!

Zero stretch means superb sensitivity. Now you can feel everything from the lightest pickups to the jarring strikes.

With an incredibly high strength/diameter ratio, this is the thinnest Berkley line yet meaning you can go lighter than ever before.

Zero memory virtually eliminates line tangles, which means you spend less time untangling lines and more time fishing.

This may be the dumbest question on this site, and i may regret it, but, here goes,...with such a thin and strong line, not to mention "no memory", could this stuff be used as a leader on a fly line?? Somehow i'm just certain this is a bad question,...asked in front of a buncha pro fly fishers....:Lightning:

You could use it for a leader. But you should use a tippet, since this line isn't fully transparent.

With that kind of flexibility wouldn't you have a heck of a time with knots if using as a fly leader??? Seems like it would be more effort than its worth..?

Nanofil is pretty soft stuff and it will turnover your flies pretty well but as mentioned above it is not transparent. So if you are fishing spooky trout they might not take your fly

They say it's like mono but has attributes of a super line, so does that mean it's practically useless for any type of weary fish like braid? I was stoked when I seen this, and I'm sure it may be super tough and all...... but for me, it's useless if I gotta use leaders all the time with it. Sorry for the bump, I'd like to know what you guys think of it before I buy any. I have my fingers crossed it performs better than braid.

I will hopefully be picking up a spool or 2 of the stuff to test out during prefishing for this tourney.

I will post up what I think of it when I get back from the tourney. Hopefully it is as good as they say.

I tried the stuff. its decent. Casts smooth, I like it. Regular braid has the same qualities and costs less
