My grasshoppers have got to where they look like an elk hair caddis, but I use it all the time in the west!

Works great.

I'd like to hear what the nymph and leech fellows have to say. A muddler works well too.

For still water my list would include:

Wooly Bugger
Chironomid
Elk hair caddis
Adams
Pheasant tail nymph

There are so many a person could choose from, depending on the season and the lake.

So far this year I only have two top flies, a #14 evil weavel, and a really flashy, long-legged stonefly I copied from a fella on this forum, chubbdarter. both of these patterns have changed the way I look at tying.

With the exception of colour, they all sort of look alike in every stage.

Dress accordingly.

I hope I don't kicked off for these racist remarks.

Ain't that the truth! Tried the Evil Weavil 3 years ago and I became hooked. And Chubbs stonefly is the bomb.

i used to tie in the tiny black barbell eyes and tie a knot in the rubber legs to make them more realistc......every year my buddies come to pick up their batch of flies......they comment " looks like the fly is losing options" hahhhaha.

the full flash back has been working really good for big browns in this poopy water

I can't believe they charge $10 a fly. Wow i'm in the wrong business... but the foam stones do work awesome for Cutties... especially when the squalla hatch is out

I was at the Grovedale fish pond about a week ago and was getting nibbles with the indicator, but only landed one in an hour so I switched to one of those long legged, flashabou stone flies and just started to strip it in. Non stop hits... when I missed a trout and the fly whipped over to the other side of the tube I'd get a hit on the other side. They are a little bit time consuming for me to tie, but well worth it in the end. Thank's for posting the pictures of it this spring, chubbdarter.

i must say i am fairly new to the stillwater fishing . being an east coaster who grew up on rivers i stuck to them when i first moved here a few years back. but ive since started fishing the various lakes around edmonton and edson and i have found ive had pretty good luck with the same flies i always use.
gold ribbed hares ear
stimulators
muddler minnows
mickey finn
small black parachute dry

im about to start trying chrominoids and san juan worms possibly. these flies and methods are totally new to me so if anyone has any suggestions on tying the flies or fishing them it would be much appreciated.
