Hey all,

I found out yesterday that I have won a self-guided trip to Cree lake and that my flight leaves NEXT SUNDAY!! Now I dont have a whole lot of time to prepare for this trip and was wondering if I could get any tips on the fishing and what I might regret not taking. Fishing should be excellent this time of year I hope:)

The trip is through Norther Cree Adventures and we land in Cable bay sunday morning.

Im very excited and just want to be prepared.

Congrats! Just checked out the website and I'm envious of your good fortune. Pretty remote lake so I don't know know how much advice you will get from AO members. My two cents is take warm, dry clothing. You can always take it off but if you don't have it, you can't put it on. And be sure to take a camera. :sign0111:

Like Redfrog stated; LOTS of bug dope. Also, bring at least 1 extra rod and reel.(I'd bring 2) Do not forget camera, and more importantly;don't forget to use it!

Make a list and check stuff off as it gets packed.
Bring sunscreen, good rain gear, favorite snacks,Beef Jerky, extra footwear and good socks.Tilly Hat. Get some basic first aid stuff and some second skin/mole skin stuff for blisters on your feet. Polysporin. Advil, imodium. Throw some quality windproof matches into a pill bottle and put in your tackle box. Extra spool of quality line. Lots of big spoons like dare devils and the Famous "Diamond 5!" Largest Bucktail spinners you can find.

OK. I'll stop. I just realized I was thinking that I was going on this trip LOL!!!

Have fun.

You wouldn't want Jennifer Tilly sitting on your.............oh never mind! Just bring a ball cap!

Tilly Hats are good to keep the sun of your neck and the rain from going down your back..

i have fished this lake many times before and the lake trout will bite anything from big half wave spoons to buzz bombs. if you wanna go deep for lake trout make sure to bring buzz bombs, if your trolling then spoons will work great.

ill be a lake nearby called highrock this weekend and it might rain, so dont forget the rain gear and i see some fellas mentioned there are alot of islands and if you dont have a guide then you will definatly need a gps.

i personelly find the color red works great this time of year for catching lakers and pike in those big northern lakes

best of luck!!

post some pics of the monster you catch!!

x3 on the gps. Had some buddies that were up there, they said all the islands look the same and there are a pile of them. They used all the regular fan favorites with success. Good luck!
