A few pics from this morning. Highwood and all tributaries running high and dirty. Lots of snow still in the pass that will add to flow in the weeks to come.

at least the water is greening and less beige,,, one of the pics looked fishable but I'm being optimistic as the flow a month back probably flushed a great deal of fish out of even some of the deeper slower holes.

You sure like that area!
I forgot that road just opened up. I don't imagine there was too much traffic on there. Good for you that you were one of the early ones to get up there.

We camped overnight at Etherington (sp) and I was amazed how clear it was running. A little high but very fishable. I was so sure it would be high and dirty I left my rods at home. Son in law caught a couple very nice cutts. Never went to any other water but the Highwood looked pretty dirty and high at the junction. I would leave it to the kayakers for a while yet. The Highwood is very high and muddy in High River. Rick.

I fished the highwood on the 16th. The water was high but not that muddy. According to the srd flow rates it was a bit lower on the 16th than it is now.
Had a couple on, but none landed. I also hit a small trib of the highwood. It was high but really quite green, not beige like the river itself.

Just got back from a week long camping/fishing trip to Kananaskis Lakes/Peter Lougheed Park. Any fish holding stream from Highway 1 to the Park was still high and fast. Took a drive up Spray Lakes road. Same story obviously.

I've been in this neighborhood for a couple of days and rodless and the little off streams are quite clear and have many risers; copy/paste to google maps satellite;

thought this was a good place to put this without starting a new thread.

i didn't speak as to whether or not the waters were fishable, just posted pics of water conditions. livingstone and dutch were in about the same shape. some bulls caught in the slower water tight to the banks. surprisingly no cutties. some hook ups that weren't seen though.

the highwood is flowing much higher tonight then it was when i took these photos saturday. i just got back from a walk along the sheep, same deal. lots of big trees hung up in the middle of the river from the flood waters we had at the end of last month. looking forward to some new fish holding waters. a couple more days of sun and no more moisture and things will start cleaning up nicely.
