Isle is fine to drive on....as for the fishing....very sad ....what was an excellent producer of perch last year has apparently died(for the most part anyhow)....On cam last march 30...dead fish all over bottom...there was very bad algae the summer of 06 and the resultant decomposition over winter lead to low oxygen and partial winterkill in 06/07...i've spent about 30 hrs on ilse so far this year and managed a total of 2 perch, 3 jackfish and 1 walleye...pretty poor numbers compared to last year....anyone else experiencing the same???

it did'nt winterkill. When a lake winterkills it kills the bigger fish first because they need more oxygen.

well let me know how you make out...not saying i'm the greatest fisherman...but i know how to catch fish and they don't seem to be there like they were last year...and if you saw the algae on the lake the past two summers....well lets just say possibilities exist...(low oxygen results mainly from decomposition of organic matter) ....anyhow i'm gonna give er a try again this weekend (stupid = doing same thing over and over expecting different results :( oh well ...)

further to that fish size is not as much a factor as species in winterkill...perch have greater oxygen requirements than pike so what kills the perch wont necessariliy kill the pike...pike will survive a nuclear holocaust im sure..

I saw this in the paper a few months back. It appears this has been proven.
