another fine morning on the water. only 1 degee @ 7am above arrival. brisk wind all morning making it very choppy. watched a beautiful young bear on the way up. caught many pretty cutthroat, and a few bonus bulls. there were a couple bugs around, and we hooked up on a couple doubleheaders. best part, all fish were landed on Jr. tied patterns.

Great shots. Looks like the Bulls in the Upper lake need some more groceries compared to their kin to the east. What is the average size of the Cutts you're getting?

Wow, great photography and gorgeous cutties! Here I thought all the upper cutties were 12''. Very nice. Think I might have to toss some hardware further west and quit playing with the sows to the east.

Great Pics Dace,

That Cutty has big eyes.... guess you need them to live in that lake. :confused0074:

Good looking young bear. Have you reported the sighting to the Grizzly Bear Survey?

For the people who are unaware of the Survey, please take a look, and report you 2011 Grizzly Bear sightings to the Willmore Foundation.

It would be nice if you added a pic of your mayfly tied by jr.

yes, all the bulls we've hooked out of there have been really lean. they fight surprising well though and a lot of fun on the 3wt. each time you'd think it was a good rainbow some nice runs, just no aerial show. the average size cutthroats have been 14". we did land some yesterday closer to 18" and they had beautiful deep colors.

we were not fishing mayflys, sorry. our go to fly of the morning was a leech pattern we call "Scottys Leech" after a late friend of ours. our boxes were starting to run low of that particular pattern that we had of his, so JR spun us up a bunch more. he did a good job, they worked very well.

awesome. Great picture great fish. looks like alot of the snow is coming off the mountains. Jr. is really good at tying flies eh. Does he create alot of his own unique patterns?

That sure is nice of Jr. to let you take pictures with his bulls...... One day I am sure you will catch one that big dace...... one day.......
