Im thinking 52 inches is a bit off....the guy must be 8 feet tall if thats a 52 incher...great fish BTW! ......a pic beside the tape would dispell any myths.

It doesn't look any bigger than the 44 inch one I caught this spring on the fly in fact it looks smaller....

I caught it on the good old five of diamonds.it was a rapala scale and i used a measuring tape deal that's attached to the side of my boat.I'm 6 ft tall and 260pds.i didn't measure girth because i didn't have an ordinary tape measure with me.i did everthing as quick as possible because the fish was tired out and i was more concerned with saving it's life than satisfying some of you nae-sayers.As you can see,i wasn't even holding it's belly for my fingers to dig in.If i posted a confirmation letter from God himself on here, there would still be someone out there to dispute it.Guess what?I DON'T CARE! I was there so i know all about this fish and i'm on top of the world about catching it.Thanks you guys who have some faith and trust in a fellow fisherman.Your comments were appreciated.

Sorry that post was referring to a joke from another thread about how every time someone posts a fish people jump on them about the size they have listed. My previous post, I thought, cleared that up...didn't mean to make it sound like it wasn't a fantastic fish. I don't think anyone could say anything bad about catching a hog like that, congrats.

what is really funny is when someone posts a big fish and DOESN'T give any dimensions to the fish the comments seem to be more acurate to the actual size of the fish, but when someone posts a fish with measurements attached, then the trophy police come out. Don't get me wrong, I have given my two cents on fish that people said they weighed and taped that just didn't seem to add up as well...apples are apples

agreed. you're better off just to post pics, no weights/measurements. most guys/and gals on here are smart enough to recognise a good fish when they see one. no need to turn a great fish picture thread into a gongshow. awesome northern smasher and thanks for sharing.

See, here's the problem. You have a GREAT fish. But there is no way that fish is 34 lbs. Attached are two pics from Wab last year. The first (in the water) is a fished I weighed at 19 lbs, 3 oz which looked very similar to the size of your fish (I have pics of my buddy holding it but I don't have his permission to put them upon here - it had to be released before I could get a pic with it). It was my personal best and was a lot of fun to catch. It was not 34 lbs. The second picture gives you an idea on perspective. It looks similar sized. It's not. It's 13 lbs but looks like it's 20. It gave me a BETTER fight than the 19 lb fish despite being 50% smaller (relative to the smaller one's body size).

You need a new scale.

you putting words in my mouth clown? I was just curious what scale he used, not what the fish weighed, get a life.

I took your comment the wrong way apparently. No need to get huffy buddy! Going by everyone else's posts I assumed that's what you were getting at. Everyone so F***in jumpy on this board lately, it's pathetic!

who told you about my dugout....

Were those fish caught in a gill net.In the first pic. you see the ice melted in the one spot. Thats made from draging a gillnet out along the ice I've seen it before.

when i used to gator fish...we always built slide holes..makes landing big pike much easier. They swim out once in the hole and just lay over, easier on their mass and also prevents freeze/burn.

no gillnets here buddy, that hole is to keep the fish healthy while we take multiple pictures. You drill about 8 10" holes joining but don't punch all the way through until the last one. It fills up with water and you now have a place to keep the fish between pictures so it doesn't freeze. He can then sit in this "live well" if you will and revive a bit before you send him back down the hole.
