Looking for some nice lakes that i can hike into within 2hrs of Calgary? Doesnt matter if its a 20min hike or 5hr hike as long as its worth it.

Chester, Rawson and Elbow lakes/trails.

Popular hikes with great fishing at the end.

Chester has cutts and dollies (not bulls)

Rawson has some big cutts.

Can't remember what was in Elbow, but I remember having fun.

Grassi Lakes is a fun, easy hike and the lakes at the top are gorgeous. There are some very small brookies which are fun to catch on ultra light fly gear. The water is super clear, so fish towards structures.

Picklejar lakes (we fished the 1st one)
Took belly boats.
Any dry fly seemed to work.
Way fun, but this was 3 summers ago.
Fairly uphill hike, maybe an hour or less?
Tight lines, wherever you pick.

of course, I subscribe to the "post message, then check regulations" school of online journalism.
Opening date is July 1.

we were talking about picklejar on the week-end. there was mention of possible winterkill in the last couple years. anybody hear anything regarding this? i haven't seen the lakes listed in the stocking reports in the last few years either. anyone?

copter would be good. that basin wouldn't be the only stop we'd be making if we had those kinda wheels.

I have wanted to copter into a golden trout lake for the last couple years. Now that my back is messed up I feel that it would be the only way for me to finally hook into that species. If you guys do arrange a copter trip up there I would gladly split the cost and join if that would be alright.
