Do you have a gas motor as well?? Just keep in mind with any electric trolling motor you wont be getting much more than 6kmp/h (and thats on a good day). Its a viable option but you have to be aware of weather incase you need to get off the lake. For the price of a good electric you can watch kijiji very closely and pick up a 3-7.5hp which i think would be a better bet.

Where will u be using it? Rivers, lakes, ponds ?

I have a 50lb on my 12ft inflatable and wudnt dare go anything less than that. No doubt people will chime in saying a 30 or 40lb is just fine, but if anything more than a stiff breeze blows, you will be hating life.

Spend a little more now, knowing that you will never replace it later.

I have a 30 for my 11ft inflatable and I'm considering buying a 55 for it. The 30 does fine but it does take awhile to get places and you have to be more cautious with the weather. I'd go 55.

Now a days the batterys are so much better and now that they have 16 volt batterys which last so much longer and u can use it on a 12 volt electric motor but you will have to buy a 16 volt battery charger to charge it..........and then buy at least a 50lb thurst motor and you will never look back...........i got rid of my zodiak a couple years ago and it was 9 1/2 feet with a 35 thurst motor in the wind it was not enough....so go big and buy a 16 volt battery and charger and you will thank me
