So you're having a great day of fishing when you catch one that just inhaled your bait. The hook is too far down to remove without causing damage to the fish so you just cut the line. Now what I'm wondering if anyone here knows if painted bait hooks take longer for fish to spitout or loose as opposed to unpainted ones. I am thinking they would take longer to rust and fall out but I could obviously be wrong. Anyone know?

Funny you should bring this up; last week I had brought the wrong hook box and long to short, used a lake white hook with bait and instead of inhaling the bait, the fish (not just one), lipped the hook. So now I'm thinking of changing all my bait hooks to fluorescent green ice fishing hooks as I'm getting back into baitfishing and would like to release fish with tongues and inner-gills intact. As for the corrosion part, I don't know.
