What is a good set up (bait, tackle.etc) to ice fish for trout and what kinda depth of water should a guy try? Also when the line is in the water do you keep the jig off the bottom a few feet?
Any info would really help me out,Thanks alot

I use 4-6 lb line with 1/8 oz hand tied jigs tipped power bait. Got a nice brooky last week on a tipup using an egg hook with a worm. I like to fish 4-6" off the bottom. Trout Roe works the best.

I find that jigging spoons tipped with worms works the best.

Was there not just a thread about this?
1/8th jighead tipped with powerbait, corn, or shrimp
Swedish Pimple
Small spoon
Sinking Rapala
Custom Jigs Ratso
I like to fish not far off the bottom and slam the hook into the ground. But will adapt to what the fish want.
