Which Long Lake are you referring to? The one by Boyle, or the one off of Hwy 663 SW of Athabasca?? I know the one near Athabasca has narrows and has pike and perch, but as far as I know there are no whitefish in there. Let us know which one you mean.

Hey Buckmaster,
Did your buddy see lots of perch? What was he using for lure? I gues the main question is how big does he consider Jumbo? Caught some nice ones there last year, but have not been back since, thinking of going this weekend!!
Thanks

Long has good numbers of large perch.....12-15 inch range, however they are traditionally very difficult to catch, except during first ice. I would think anyone would consider perch over 12 inch to be the jumbo variety.

I was out last weekend and didn't see any big ones... lots of small ones 4-6" but they were not biting. There was a guy out there that caught a big one on a tip-up, not sure what it was baited with... maybe 10-11"...

used to love fishing this lake with my grandpa, back in the day. but we would fish perch left of the boat launch, way up on the end. Summer and winter. all this talk makes me think it is worth a drive out again.
