Hi folks,

I am new to fishing and I've only been to Travers Reservoir as well as Red Deer River near Drumheller. So far I've caught two 50+ cm Walleyes at Travers.

I really wanna try new places near Calgary. Any suggestions? Lake Newell? It looks beautiful! Chain Lakes or Highwood River? Thanks everyone!

Colin

Just got back from Lake Newell. I did not put my boat on the water, instead I went to Rolling Hills reservoir, and landed one keeper. This reservoir is about 10 kms (southeast) from Newell camp grounds. There are some big ones in there. I had one on my line but did not land him. The reason I did not go on Lake Newell was because of bad storm warnings and Lake Newell is not the type of lake you want to be on if things start getting rough out there.

Thanks for the advise! I like Travers Reservoir except it's a little scary to go there after midnight.

If your looking for +50 eye Newell is a good pick, with the potential of a real trophy eye. Lots of lakes giving up 50cm+ eyes right now....LBR,Keho,Macgregor
