Got out to some mountain streams today with Slivers86. No rain, sunshine, the fish got hungry and the company was great.

First fish of the day. A strong rocky that fought like a bass.

A bug.

The same type of bug under the same rock in a different colour.

Slivers first cutty ever and the biggest of the day.

A couple more cutties. I was holding the fish and my buddy took the pictures.

All in all a great day....

Then there was the incident. A mossy rock, 250 pounds of tacklerunner being introduced to gravity, and an elbow trying to break through granite. The rock won. My beautiful net took the brunt of it as well. :(

Got a pic of the elbow too but blood makes some people squeamish.

real beauties! Thanx for sharing. Hey, i fish in sandles that look identical to yours...water resistant, good grip on rocks, but mine are wore out and i can't find similar replacements. Mind if i ask where you got yours?

Nice fish. Looks like it must be a great little spot.

I lost my footing in the current, and went for a swim, about a week and a half ago...my body was fine but I ended up having to replace my camera, which I had only had for a little over a year. Man, was I ever frustrated about that. And, as fate loves to rub things in, these arrived in the mail, the very next day (I had ordered them 2 weeks previously):

They are great for grabbing on slimy rocks.

The brand is 'Keen'. I got them 3 years ago in New Denver 3, BC of all places. They weren't cheap, $120+ if I recall but I must have 1000's of hours on them. Heavy duty goodyear rubber so thick on the toe that it acts as like steel toed boots. Also did alot of construction jobs with them on hot summer days. They're specifically designed for water and wading and the rubber is designed to prevent slippage. Just one of those things, walking along a semi-steep rock walk and casting at the same time, not watching. Stepped on some dried moss and the rest is history. Highly recommend the Keen sandals though.

Murphy's law. My camera was on might right hip and was fine. Net was hanging on the back and swung left. Think I can fix it though. Couldn't raise my left arm last night or move around at all but today is bit better. I cast with my right so if you see a guy out there casting a fly right handed and stripping in line with his teeth in the near future, that'd be me. ;)

Man, that sucks.

A nice day fishing ruined by mossy rocks. There should be a law against mossy rocks. haha

Seriously, though...go get the elbow looked at. By the story (and the picture of the mangled elbow last night), you may have a bone chip or something. I bet it's pretty bruised this morning.

If you don't want to spend all day in the ER, come out here to Cochrane for the Urgent Care clinic. I did the same when my foot went wonky. Saw a doc, had xrays, and was on my merry way in an hour.

Looks like Braun and I are going to tackle the boat tomorrow night anyway. Come out and hang...

nice trouts and a toothless silver bullet. glad you didn't hang yourself with your net, you'd be a big body to pack out of the bush. suck it up princess, you'll live. good excuse to learn to cast with the "proper" arm.

Was a great day tackle, thanks for assisting me in finding my first cutt ever :) Smiles all day today still. As for your net its fixable, you elbow will heal, and we'll go back out and find ourselves some big ol' bulls next time :)

Need to find me a brookie now :) they are the nicest looking trout out there imo

oh and another note tackle - you forgot to tell my 'jump off one rock 4 ft down to another rock' story... needless to say, rocks are slimy on riverbeds... I went in the drink :sign0007: and today i have sore arse syndrome, anyone else ever experience that :)
