Excuse my ignorance but haven't the salmon runs in the last two years been huge?

I don't believe the main point of the story is the size of the salmon stocks. I believe it is more about researchers not being able to freely discuss their findings. Communications officers, strategists, and ministerial staff demanding reporters' interview question prior to an interview? The same staff deciding if and when the researcher can even give an interview?

Research, funded by taxpayer money being withheld from the public should be the main focus of the story here.
