I have had it for approximately 3 years in my left ear. In my case, if they tried to repair the damage, they would likely make it worse, so I am stuck with it for the rest of my life.

Strangely enough, you do get used to it ....... for the most part.

As soon as continued high stress and high blood pressure are removed from around me, the tinitus goes away.

It must be geezer thing.

Mind you, I was tested by a specialist for this when I was not a geezer, eons and epochs ago.

Was just talking to a couple friends that have that (post Afghanistan) over breakfast this morning.

Here is a link that might have better info...at least they won't be selling snake oil to you...its the Mayo clinic.

Your specialist should be able to tell you the grade or category you fall into...it is a pretty common problem. Hope you get some relief.

My hearings fine...for some reason my 12 gauge isn't loud anymore...

I only really notice the "ringing" noise when I'm "still" hunting or at my place with ALL sources of media off...I guess I have a busy head!:)

yeah, go see a ENT doctor ASAP, before you get long lasting problems. Could be many things, could even be something completely unrelated to the ear.. The body is the most complex - not understood system in the world.

I used to drive a boat for a living and the helm was at the rear of the boat, I'd usually stand out in the windier rainier days to see my course. Well the engine noise would bounce off the vertical windshield and into my right ear. The riging is pretty much constant and sometimes it goes into a low drone. A friend who's a pilot and started in the noisier craft just got a special earplug that he says seems to balance it out, but $800, wow! And if you lose it, they don't keep molds of your inner ear. One day mine was so bad I just cranked tunes to drown it out.

Good that you are taking their advice....Once the ringing stops things are a lot quieter...I wear two hearing aids and it improved my quality of life greatly….

Yup I've been ringing since Christmas. Went to a hearing clinic Couple months ago and got two hearing aids. To many years of swinging chainsaw. The best part is it went though compensation no problem. Really stops the ringing and now the birds sing again and I can't wAit to go back calling elk

I have it about 75% of the time, though it's not too intrusive. The occasional day it gets loud and distracting. It's a side affect of a medication I'm on, though I wouldn't be surprised if all the metal shows and rediculous car stereos of my teenage years played a part also.

1 oz of prevention is worth a pound of cure. As a punk I laughed at the workers comp films regarding ear protection. My ears have been ringing for over 30 years, some days it really screams. DO NOT USE CHEAP EAR PROTECTION, DO NOT TAKE SHORT CUTS. If your tinnitus is due to noise exposure, it is for life.

I've always had mine on while working what I blame it on is oh&s made it where we needed sideimpact hardhats. Never thought we needed different earmuffs it didn't take many years before my favorite question was" what"
The hearing aids I got are different than the old stick the whole thing in your ear the ones I got the wind don't bother at all

Know what you mean.. The ringing does make it awful difficult to differentiate between the good and bad ideas coming from the voices in my head.. But yes you should talk to A specialist if it is bothersome to your day to day life.

Agreed on the going to a doctor ASAP. It could be an infection causing it and some antibiotics might kill the infection before the tinnitus is permanent.

I have had it for 6 or 8 months and have just had to get used it. That's what the specialist told me to do. Oddly enough,it's still there but it doesn't bother me all that much. Get yourself a cheap fan to help sleep at night.

Good luck with it,I hope you can get rid of it.
