I've read all the ads and hype about down imaging (DI) sonar and it sounds pretty good. Does anyone have any actual "hands on" experience with this technology and, if so, what are your opinions?

Thanks

I picked up the Humminbird 596c DI couple months ago and I really like it. You can really determine bottom structure whether its tree's, weeds, rock, flats, sunken boats. Pretty amazing stuff. I generally use the split screen where I use the DI whilst also utilizing the conventional fish finder.

Cheers

Thanks Elkster

I am thinking of getting the 597 DI with GPS. Just wondering if it really can use a 75 degree cone. The 20 degree one i have now doesn't reveal very much in shallow water - only aboiut a 2 foot diameter at the bottom.
