7MM RM 140's in factory and a 24" bbl. I'd suspect real world velocities of about 3000fps.(never chronied 140's, but I have on 150's and 160, and 175's)
We chronographed 3 different factory140gr 280 loads,and all reached 3000fps with a 24" barrel.Factory 140gr 7mmremmag loads reached just over 3100fps with a 24" barrel.Factory 130gr 270win loads reached about 3000fps out of a 24" barrel on the same chronograph.
My 140gr 280AI handloads produced 3150fps out of a 24" barrel, on the same chronograph,and 140gr 7mmremag handloads produced 3250fps with a 24" barrel.There were no 270win handloads to compare that day.

In my hunting family of five men we have 8 rifles that are chambered in .277cal(270).I cant tell the difference in Recoil in them compared to the 7mm cartridges, except for the 7mm RUM which i've never shot.My Cousins custom Martini and Hagn 270wby rifle that has a 28" Octogan barrel shoots a 140 grain nosler pill @3400' per second.

However I really like the 7mm RUM,that thing has Balls!:innocent:
