Don't worry, I've heard that things are going to be just fine.

Forty mile is down at least twenty feet and at around fifty percent. If it goes down ten more pretty sure no boat launch. Many docks are beached as well as the park dock. That would compare to 2001 when you could walk way past the bottom of the launch. I believe if it goes down much more the fishing will take many years to recover. Need rain soon and lots of timely rain.

I'm looking forward to seeing the results from Deadhorse.

I'm in Hussar right now working. I can look out back from the credit union and I am doubtful that anyone will have anything to weigh in at the end of the day.

Lets hope it goes up a bit. Ghost is nice to boat around but I am not that great at catching trout, Pine coulee is pretty much guaranteed to catch little walleye and odd pike.

Are there still walleye in pine coulee? they haven't been all fished out yet? My kids want to go fish for some walleye, thought about taking them there... but heard it is nowhere near what it used to be. I havent been in a number of years.

Tons of them based on Litwin's video from last year. And that is what is interesting about this reservoir - more than 6 years of catch and keep 3 no size limit walleye and they are still there in decent numbers.

If you are thinking about when you could sit on the dock and catch one after the other that is not gonna happen.

Most shore fisherman now have a tougher time than what it was 6 or 7n yrs ago. There is still walleye to be caught but not as easy from shore as it used to be, also not as easy jigging from a boat like it was . Also no more bait is allowed so if you use artificial make sure it is unscented.

Will be trying to get in a little more fishing this year before they empty out the lakes again

Has anyone used the boat launch at pine coulee yet? Just wondering if the water level is high enough to launch most boats. I haven’t been there for a few years but heard that it was pretty low last year.

Looks like it is low but doable based on this recent YouTube post:

Guess that’s what happens when they have trout flavoured forage… good benchmark for how to improve a fishery with forage.

How we doing at the southern reservoirs? Ice all gone? Hoping to head toward Brooks for opening weekend next weekend. Hoping we're into open water season!

That pic of the Newell launch is a huge upgrade over the way it looked last summer.

I am planning to come to Forks next Monday, hopefully less crowds than on a weekend. Better be enough water to launch a boat:)

I watched the river drop 5 or 6 inches during the day today, they can use a lot more water

Poppa 05-12-2024 03:31 PM

Hit up Newell and area yesterday (Saturday) and was pleasantly surprised with how high the water was. Really great to see. No tankers but lots of action from shore. So great to get some open water lines going. Also, was as calm as I have ever seen Newell. You could canoe on there... Wild.

You won't be able to launch a boat at Chin for awhile. Water is 50 meters away from the launch. The water has not come up at all from winter levels.

Launch was easy. Water is higher than last fall. Fishing was a bit slower than expected, lots of sturgeon rising but only managed to get 3 - 30, 41 and 47 inches. Saw few caught from the shore as well.

roper1 05-18-2024 09:00 PM

Hit Crawling Valley today. Fullest trailer parking lot I've ever seen with the walleye tourney. Fishing was slow for me & I chatted with a couple tourney players, slow for them also.

Weather was nasty, nasty, but the lake was as clear as I can ever remember. High enough I took the inlet channel on the west side. Water so clear in there you can see them chase the hook like a mountain stream. Good times!

slough shark 05-19-2024 10:06 AM

Went out to travers for a couple hours yesterday, got a few walleye and a pile, 1 walleye will make a tasty dinner this evening, love being able to put one on the plate every now and then.water level was good, probably 90% full which was a big change from last fall when it was mid 30’s, lots of standing water in the fields on the drive out there too so as long as the farmers have their crops in they should be off to a good start too.

roper1 06-03-2024 08:24 PM

Fished Crawling Valley Sat & Sun, pike were pretty active. Lake is still high & the water the cleanest I've ever seen it. Wife had been hacking me pretty good about seeing them chase the hook......then a couple did it for her:)

roper1 06-10-2024 10:34 PM

Been wanting to hit a few different sloughs, but been busy at home & work so CV it is cause it's closest. Sunday the 10th. Dirty SE wind but the bite is on. Wife got 16, I got 5 in under 3 hrs. Trolling from 1/2 way up back to the launch. In & out of the marina PDQ so no idea how the shore fishermen were making out.

Did see a couple fellas in another boat hauling them out very regular also

Prairiewolf 06-11-2024 08:45 AM

Fished Pine Coulee on Sunday, June 9th with a couple of buddies.

We started at ~2pm and pulled the boat off at 7:30pm. A bit of a slow day but pulled a 25.5" pike which we enjoyed yesterday for dinner. I wish there was a fillet / cleaning station near the launch but no big deal.

Water level was great and the launch was easy - great day.
