2015 Toyota Tacoma trade ?

My girlfriend has a loaded 2015 Tacoma with 30k on it. She is thinking of trading on a 2017 model Tacoma.
Has anyone gone from a 2015 to a 2017 ? Thoughts ?
Thanks

She must like payments. The rate she's going she could in a couple more years have a paid off 2015 tocoma with about 70 or 80k on it.... my way of thinking. I'm kinda practical though.

I'm with you on payments. I have None.
Her payments go up 10.00 a week and 1 year is added for a 2 year newer truck.
Seems like a win.
Any thoughts on the 2017 Tacoma ?

Guy at work here is a toyota fan, says the newer ones arnt as nice cause the transmission hunts for the right gear.

Take it for a good test drive on some hills amd highway etc...

I've been told by the dealer that the Tacoma hasn't changed much since 2009, just aesthetics. Haven't looked at the 2017 yet, I think they have a newer engine now, still driving my 2010. I bought a Tacoma because they have a reputation of running forever. If she has to have the latest and greatest then have at er but I suggest looking at slightly used. Lots of cash to drive it off the lot

It's changed

I was looking last year to replace my 97taco which was the best vehicle I ever owned even better than my 87 Toyota pickup, so ya I am a Toyota guy,I was totally disappointed in the new one, gear hunting but they reprogrammed that, had a check engine light on another test drivec, back seat was small drivers seat to low for me and the price is getting into full size plus, check out Tacoma world for opinions, go test drive you'll see if it's right for you.

It's only a win if you always want to be making payments. My 2007 Tundra won't be replaced until at least 2019, and I will have gotten my money's worth by then. So far, I have replaced a battery, and tires.

I purchased a new 2017 tacoma 6 weeks ago. I now have almost 3000 kms on it. I am really happy with the truck. I went with the 6 speed manual. There are a lot of unhappy people with the auto trans. Read tacomaworld. In the US manual tranny tacomas sell out quick. Good luck.

That's what I would get as well. I'm glad that they are still offering that option!

To the OP: I would say, it really depends on what having a new truck means to your girlfriend. Maybe sit down and add up what the extra payments will cost over the term, and see how that compares to the expected depreciation of that vehicle (which should be less than say, a Ford...) Factor in the warranty as well (she'll have a fresh warranty). Then take a look at that number and see if there's anything she'd rather do with that money - investments, a quad, etc. etc.

Thanks for the reply's. For sure will check on the trans complaints. This truck will be the 10 year keeper.
A big issue is her truck is white and we live in a snow belt. You see every rust stain. Grader blade specks I think. It's going to look nasty in 5 years without a cut/polish every spring.

Clay bar the truck every spring. Removes all of the rust specs.

I would think black would be worse. Scratches show up like no other color.

what are her payments on the 15? and how many years does she have left?

It sounds appealing, but its not.

If going to new why not the full size Tundra long box Double cab. A lot more useful configuration in my mind.

AdAMxr 06-28-2017 03:17 PM

I would hold onto the 2015. From the research I've done the 4.0l is much better the the current.
