Selling guns to cabelas?!

I’ve been looking at a nice 243 at cabelas but it’s not really in the budget right now. So I figure I might take a couple of my guns that are just collecting dust and see what I can get for them. Here’s were you guys/gals come in. Is it even worth my time to see what they’d give me for my rifles? Or do they completely low ball you?

Just list them right here on AO they will sell and at a price both you and the buyer should be able to agree upon. Dealers will give you next to nothing for your gun.

Ditto.

Elk Chaser 10-14-2017 10:14 AM

you will get about 70% of going value

Iirc, they offer you 2/3 of what they think they can sell it for. It's not unreasonable but you will certainly get more on here, at the expense of the time it takes to sell them.

This is the best advice anyone is going to give and what better way to give someone a deal over the big box store who will bend you over and not even blink about doing it.
But, if time is of the essence (you just gotta have it) then prepare to get stiffed and not even kissed when it happens.

So, what are you listing (op) that is.

Selling guns to cabelas?! . . .

In the past, I've had no problems selling guns on the AO Buy & Sell.

As long as they're in good shape and the asking price is reasonable,
they usually sell pretty fast.

Give it a try - http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/forumdisplay.php?f=87
.

I was also told I have to have a certain amount of posts and subscribe to the forum which I’m not sure I’d like to do seeing as I don’t plan to be selling a whole sack of guns in the future

The requirements are; 30 day forum membership (which you already have) and 20 posts on the forums (pretty easy to do).

Forum membership is free, and so is the AO Buy & Sell.

Such a deal ! :)

P.S.
We're not allowed to try to sell things on
this General Discussion Forum page.
And the Mods are watching!

I do not think so. To be competitive with new firearms, retailers have to sell for about 70% so they usually do not want to invest more than 50%.

Depends if its a good peice your picky on how much it goes for sell it privatly. If you just need the cash the arent terrible. I sold a marlin 336w for about 350. They had it for 500 plus a rebate. But it was a pos and i need somthing that worked.

Not sure that “buy” is the correct word

I know for a fact that Cabelas offered $650.00 trade value for an exceptional Ruger #1 in .375 H&H, and the fellow quite rightly walked out the door. Seems that 50% of value is what they offer. There was another #1 on the rack tagged at $1400
