Does anyone know if you can fish in Jasper? Do you need a special fishing licience? Are there any good lakes there?

Check out this months Alberta Outdoorsman it has an article on fishing in K-country and Jasper. You will need a National parks license available downtown Jasper
|
I believe that the lakes in the national parks are closed in the winter.:thinking-006:

you do need a special licence and you can fish it for bows,1cutty lake, lots of bulls ,brookies and whitefish. though there are some pike in a few lakes.
fly fishing is the best bet. |
The Sunwapta river I believe is the only body of water body in Jasper National Park that is opened to fishing right now.
Here is a link to the National Park fishing regs http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/jasper/visit/visit14a.aspx |

Even then, the ice may not be off. Last year I fished Maligne Lake on June 4 & 5; the ice had just fully disappeared a few days prior. |
Read the regulations completely as there are a few things that are different than the provincial regs that may surprise you.
