RIP Rick Cross

I just heard my friend Rick Cross is missing in the mountains west of Calgary. An experienced outdoorsman, he was supposed to return Sat evening from a sheep hunt. I don't know much as far as details go but he drives a white Dodge Diesel dually. Please respond if you saw his truck parked anywhere this weekend. I'll update this thread as I learn more. Pray for Rick and his family. Thanks
Mud

Trying to get more details. Unfortunately all I have is his cell number which obviously isn't working.
I'll update as I learn more.

Update
RCMP have located his pack and found his rifle, but not him. Weather is hindering the search. Very concerned....

Praying for the missing!

i really hope there's a happy end to all of this.

please guys don't go somewhere so remote alone or at least without a spot or something.

nekred 09-08-2014 01:15 PM

Definitely worrisome... hoping for best outcome!...

timsesink 09-08-2014 01:15 PM

That is incredibly strange, to be somewhere without pack and rifle on a sheephunt doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Praying for him and the family.

Mudslide 09-08-2014 01:28 PM

This is the message that I received from the family. This does not look good. Please pray for Rick.

"He was hunting on Pickle jar. The RCMP have been searching. They won't let anyone else on the mountain. They found his backpack and then 200 yards away his rifle. Now they have a dog team looking but the fog is so thick the helicopter can't fly so everyone is hiking in."

JohninAB 09-08-2014 01:39 PM

Thots and prayers for a happy ending to this

sureshot 09-08-2014 02:01 PM

Prayers sent I hope this has a positive outcome.

CBintheNorth 09-08-2014 02:01 PM

Does not sound good at all but lets hope for some positive news.

huntin 09-08-2014 02:37 PM

I hope this ends better than it sounds. positive vibes for friends and family

This is very weird, I have known and hunted with Rick for something like 20 years, I can honestly say he is probably a more experienced woodsman than most here. I am trying to make sense of what is going on here, simply doesn't make sense. I sure hope this turns out a lot better than it looks.

Zuludog 09-08-2014 03:00 PM

Here's hoping for good news. Positive thoughts for him and his family & friends.

Nikanit 09-08-2014 03:08 PM

So have they found his truck because we had seen one in 416 last Thurs

Lr1000 09-08-2014 03:26 PM

My prayers are with him and his family that he is safe. I was in the range last week and conditions we trying. Does anyone know when he went out?

Hope they find him. This is my wifes worst nightmere when I go sheep hunting.

top predator 09-08-2014 03:54 PM

Which area is this guys? This is sad to read for certain.

Torkdiesel 09-08-2014 04:04 PM

Good luck to him and his family, and a big thanks to those out in this weather looking for him.

shooter 09-08-2014 04:19 PM

Best wishes to all involved! Hoping for a positive outcome. Certainly willing to help in a search if needed as well.

scesfiremedic 09-08-2014 04:24 PM

Just saw this posted on Twitter by Rocky Mountain Outlook newspaper:

"K-country RCMP and conservation officers search for missing hunter - provincial bear response team on site due to grizzly sow and cub in area".

I hope they find him alive and well! Prayers!

HuntingAlberta 09-08-2014 04:34 PM

x10 on everyone's well wishes. This is everyone's nightmare and I hope the ending of this story is the best possible outcome.
