Pike and Walleye Galore

Sometimes hitting up a lake with lots of small pike and walleye can be just what the Doctor ordered. They may not be big but fish after fish action often keeps new anglers and kids very interested on the water. During this video my Dad and I are fishing a lake we both grew up going to, but haven't been to in years. Turns out the fish haven't changed and it's still fast action of tiny pike and decent walleye.

I'm pretty sure this lake could handle a one any size pike.

What braid/ fluoro brands do you recommend ?

Pigeon and Battle combo on Sunday was like that. Started at Pigeon and got 33 walleye before I ran out of bait so packed up and went over to Battle for some pike and ended up with over 50 of them before I finally got bored and called it quits.

Numbers are good at both lakes like usual, not catching as many A's at pigeon but tons of C's this year so good to know there is a strong younger age class coming up the ranks. Battle lake the pike were all 18-24 inches with only one just big enough to keep but I wasn't keeping so threw him back.

Was good to have a numbers day, now it is back to trophy hunting.

I use Power Pro Spectra Braided lines. Usually in Alberta 10 and 20 pound is good for everything we would fish for. In the ocean for bottom fishing we use 80 pound. That stuff is so strong it's very hard to break. Need a knife handy for a quick cut in case you get into trouble.

For Fluorocarbon if I am putting it as a mainline I usually use Berkley Vanish.

If I want a Fluorocarbon leader I think the best stuff made is Seaguar Fluorocarbon leader material. Of note you should realize that not all fluoro lines are alike. Don't expect to get the same performance out of a Berkley Vanish Line as a Fluoro leader. They have a bit different composition so stronger and more abrasion resistant.
