There are many flies that have successfully performed for me @ Beaver. These would include balanced leeches, retrieved leeches of many types, dragon nymphs, minnow patterns, bloodworms, boobies, blobs, grasshoppers, ants, caddies adults, poppers, mayflies. Also, chironomids, boatman, swimmers. 1)As far as deep fishing, Beaver lake occasionally layers up with water depths greater than 10’ becoming lethal. 2) Temperature profiles reveal similar temps from top to bottom. Have depths greater than 10ft been shown to be oxygen deficient?

The wisdom of man doesn't always work out so well.
I guess they don't try that anymore. I have been able to fish a lake near the bottom all summer. I guess the particulars of each lake varies. Vegetation growth, wind mixing and other factors all influence what the oxygen levels look like |
Goldscud,
I’ve often wondered about the layering. I suspect that it might occur only occasionally. One year, 9’ was the magic number. Anything deeper got nothing. Other years, much deeper than 9. I haven’t a clue why. Don |
My 2 cents.Clearer watr than Beaver, light penetration from the sun.Might cause layring at depth. But as you say Don.To layer at 9' seems odd to me..My q Is at 10' or better,in summer is there oxygen down there.
