Lucky coyote

Taking to a trapper in rosebud, looks like the season about over, Rubs on some last week. Then he told me something that i have not heard to often. They came upon a yote in a trap, fur had some bad rubs, the rubber lined bridger did not do much damage, so they pinned it down, and released it. He said it was a female and more fur for next year.Seems like good thinking to me, dont think i would want to try it alone, they dont go down without a fight.

A coyote is one thing...but how about a cougar? I met an old trapper at one of the Rendezvous' who told a story about releasing a full grown cougar!

Oh boy that sounds risky, pound for pound i have found a cat more ferocious than dog. To bad he didnt have a video to show how he did that.

cougar

Cougar Long and Eric Kjost roped one of their cougars out of a tree and chained it in barn. F & W did not think that it was legal hunting. Kjost had to release it by himself as his buddies left. F & W superintendent from Red Deer did not appreciate it when they came to charge them next day. They said wanted to see cougar and Kjost said "What Cougar".

There is a YouTube video of a guy releasing a wolf . He cut a 6 inch hole in a 4 x4 piece of ply. ,located on one edge centered. Place notch on chain and worked his way up to the wolf using the ply as a shield . When he got to the trap the wolf could get to him . Push tabs and away he went.

That previous post should read "couldn't get him "
