Free Trapping Awareness Workshop

I just came across this. A good idea in areas where it's an issue IMO. Cudos to the participants. :happy0034:

I bet some wing nut will show up and turn it into an opportunity for peta type views. Good on those putting it on . Need more common sense ideas like this. Here's hoping.

workshop

I attended the trappers and dogs workshop and thought it was very well done. John Clarke the wildlife officer and the three trappers put on an excellent workshop. They had lots of props including pictures, handouts and traps and snares to get your hands on. As I spend time in other areas like S.E. British Columbia and Central Alberta I wanted information that would relate to all areas.

The workshop was well attended and all the chairs they put out were used. John kept us on the agenda and I never heard any negative comments. I had brought my old lab as he hates being left in the truck and he slept at my feet. For the second part when people would be milling around I put him in the truck. After all the workshop was about dogs and traps.

I try to avoid areas where the trapping industry is taking place but sometimes when heading to a high ridge for ski mountaineering I have to pass through a trapping area.

I feel with this workshop I am more confident when traveling in areas where the trapping industry is ongoing. John had even gone as far as to have a local business order in the parrot snips to cut a snare if your dog is caught.

Again I would like to thank all the organizers for presenting an excellent workshop.
