Fisher & marten body grip traps

Just looking to add to the fisher marten traps have been using the Bélisle Super X 160. Not unhappy with them just interested if there is something better out there.
What do you folks use and how do you like them.

Also where are you buying them, the ATA?

Thanks TEH

i find 120s to be optimum for marten, and 220s optimum for fisher...... the 160s are a good choice if you have a fair number of fisher on your marten line.

Hi,

I have also been useing the Bellisle 120's for Marten and do catch the odd Fisher as well and I bought a few LDL 120's a couple years ago and like them way better. I just Bought 2 doz of the LDL's from Klassen, he was finaly able to get the rights to sell them here in Alberta, before you could only buy them in BC that I was aware of.

Gabby.

I used the sauvageau 5'' last year and was pretty happy with them their built pretty heavy duty.

I was going to try them to see if they work any better than the belilse and see if how much maintaince that they take.

The trigger system use to drive me crazy on the old Victor 160's, forever fixing them. The Belilse have been not to bad in that department so far.

Brain have you tried any other models?

X2.... used these last year for the first time and was also very happy with them. I modified the trigger wires slightly so they didn't form such a wall at the entrance to the box and had very little refusal from martin or fisher. They are very strong and seem to be just the right size for areas with fisher and martin. I ordered a hundred for this year from Gordy in Debolt.

Pretty steep. 20 bucks a piece if I remember correctly. But they come pre-dyed so you'll save a buck a trap there and they're built pretty heavy duty so I imagine they'll last a life time.

I've got belilse - savigneaus - LDL's I have no issue with any but use the savigneaus where I suspect I might catch a fisher. Overkill for marten and too big to fit in some boxes.

I feel the same way, I bought 2 Dozen Savageau 120's and had some Marten that were just about cut through, I find they are to powerfull for Marten, but are prefect for Fisher for sure.
The Bellise I found after using them for a couple years the triggers are so touchy to set, I have not had any trouble with the LDL's yet at all.
