Gas tank volume

I picked up a 1999 F250 supercab Lariat. Price was right km’s Low just what I was looking for. I’m wondering what the gas tank volume is. I fueled it at 3/4 on the gauge and got 78 litres in, fueled at 1/2 and got 56 litres in. Fueled on E with the low fuel light on and got 87 litres squeezed in.

No owners manual with the truck wondering if anyone can tell me what is the fuel capacity for this truck. It has the 5.4 gas engine.

Probably 110 litres

Here's the manuals:

Think its 29 g with a short box. Rated size and actual capacity are different things though....

Fuel tank volume

I can't quite remember the volume if you look in the manual it will be there
About 250 Kms you will be looking for a fuel station
Could hardly pull a trailer with 2 quads on it
What I figured out if coming up to a hill if you get the transmission to kick down before the hill it was better off it seemed like it wanted to shift down too late and you lost too much speed

My 2006 F250 (with the V10) has a 95L tank. I wish it was a bit bigger, but I usually get 450 to 500km per tank.

I like that the V10 gets approx. the same mpg as the V8 in the F250, with substantially more torque and pulling power.

I liked my previous Dodge Ram diesel with 135 liter tank, could go all the way to BC/Kamloops and back without having to buy any expensive diesel in BC. I could get well over 1000km on 1 tank.

If you really want an accurate number, carry a known amount of fuel in a jerry can (10l or 20l) and run your tank dry. Pour in your jerry can contents and drive straight to a station to fill up again. Some math allowance can be made for the fuel burnt driving to the station, that or you can idle the tank dry AT the gas station. I will allow that running tanks dry may not be beneficial to the fuel pump, but once ought not to kill it.

Barring that, it appears there were two tank sizes for that truck, 25 gal and 30 gal according to a google answer.

Thanks for this. It’s the short box and I’ll go with the 113.4 based on the 1/2 tank fill up. My guess was 115. I got 500k on the full fill 370 of that was highway k’s. Not great but is what I expected for a 1500.00 truck.

when I bought my Tahoe, there was no manual with it. I found an ad on Kijiji of a guy selling a variety of them. So, I bought the one I needed. I think it was $20.00.

Go to this site, enter your vin number then click on the tech specs tap, fuel tank capacity is close to the bottom.

So you were getting 35 mpg if that is right, doubt it cause I own one, 2001 3500, 400 hp.

Just picked up a 04, F250, ext cab, long box 4x4. Got my V10 and a 3.73 axle. What a pulling beast. I have got 120L into the tank with not much work. Previous owner said it's a 130L tank but I have yet to squeeze anything close to that number.

2 yrs ago I sold my previous V10 F350(big tank too) to a farmer who also had a V10 f350 deck truck and he said it only had a 80L tank. He was going to swap tanks from the one I sold him.

Not sure why Ford puts such small tanks in the work trucks.

I believe that his mileage is only 13.5 litre per 100kms. my 6.6 gets 12 litre/100kms. you may have miss calculated the mileage

Big Grey Wolf 08-21-2018 08:07 AM

I would get milage in range of 10-12 liters per 100km. When you drive around 100km/hr on regular basis the 5.9 Cummins gets excellent milage. My 2001 Dodge Ram is 4x4 and milage somewhat less than previous Ram truck. If you do not have heavy foot and blow black smoke you get excellent performance in a Ram diesel.
