Fish weights by length and girth
 

There are alot of different formulas out there to estimate the weight of you fish. I was wanting to know what will give me the closest possible weight. I landed a 48 inch long 21.5 inch Northern Pike last weekend and my scale only goes upto 25lbs. I had the fish on 2 other scales before I released the fish but they both said "E" so either the batteries were dead or the fish was to big. If i had to guess i would say it was around 30lbs. the calculaters that i've found online put it between 27.7-30.5lbs. Who make a good scale i'm in the market for a new one?

I have a berkely digital that seems pretty good. Goes to 50 pounds. Except all the fish I catch are MUCH heavier than it says :sHa_sarcasticlol:

Length x Girth x Girth divided by 800 = 27.73 lbs. :test:

these are the formulas that i use and they are awfully close

for walleye = length x length x length in inches divide by 2700 =

for pike = length x length x length in inches divide by 3700 = so your pike work's out to 29.88 lbs

I was told length x lenght x lenght in inches divide by 3500 =31.597lbs

either way it is still a estimate

yes your right either way it is an estimate, and that is a very large pike in any ones books.

never entered any before i am going to enter this one and see what they say. I have caught one i know was bigger than this one but it wasn't as long. I don't care one way or the other i just like to catch big fish on light line and small rods. I caught this one on my 5.5 foot ugly stick with 10 lbs test. Usually i only run 6 on that setup but that was all i had to up on there before i went out
