winch bumpers

I am hoping some members here can recommend a shop or welder that could built an aluminum winch bumper for my truck,I have looked at the steel bumpers that are available and I would like to price out an alum. bumper.

Custom is the way to go forsure!you can make majority of thinner gauge and thick and extra beefy for mounting the fair lead and mounting plate then a nice 10,000lb-15,000lb winch like a smittybuilt.

Tradewest Fabrications in NE Calgary does nice custom work, and they understand the requirements of building equipment for real world applications.
If you check them out, it wouldn't hurt to ask them if your truck qualifies for the Jeep Junkies deal.

Hawk Custom Sheet Metal in Red Deer. They can make whatever you'd like. Picture of custom headache rack and toolboxes I had made there.

Unless you need a winch 365 days/year, you might consider a front receiver hitch and mount the winch on a plate. I went that route and the winch can sit in the garage the 250-300 days/year that I don't need it. Another nice thing is you can wire up terminals front and back so you can winch from which ever end is easier.

Winch bumpers

Yes I thought about just getting a after market bumper with a reciever and wiring the truck so I can move the winch from the front to the back, I still need a good bumper in case I get a deer jumping out in front of me .I never thought of Hawk Sheet metal for a bumper as I thought they only did sheet metal,I will have to give them a call.

Try these guys and see if they have what you’re looking for. I’ve just seen them advertising in an Overlander journal I subscribe to.

I built a front bumper for my truck this summer, one of the things I incorporated into it is it has two places that will take two inch receiver hitches. If I need to load a dead vehicle, I can put a trailer ball into one of the receivers and winch the vehicle onto the trailer. I can also just leave a shackle in one of the hitches.
